🥰 How to build trust with video content in the age of AI?
This topic is dear to me because that's how I gained my followers on Twitter and built meaningful relationships. I prepared 5 examples of startup founders who used videos for growing their company.
This week I had the chance to step on stage and deliver a speech about video content and building trust.
This topic is dear to me because that's how I gained my followers on Twitter and built meaningful relationships.
My audience was startup founders and I prepared 5 examples of other startup founders who used videos for growing their company.
I'll give you a short intro about all of them and what we can learn.
💡People buy from people
Imagine you release an app.
You have no team and no marketing budget.
And yet you get 3000 users. How?!
That's a story of Tom Shaw (founder of Code Planner) who first built his audience on Instagram by creating videos and giving a lot of value to his audience. When he changed his strategy from being behind the scenes to actually showing his face and talking to the camera, he gained 1000-2000 followers per video.
Roberto Nickson heavily relies on video content marketing, too. He's building 4 companies and each of them benefits from his personal brand and educational content.
Hank Green is the best example of making low-effort videos conveying a lot of value. Did you know that with 1 Tiktok video he generated $1M for charity? Even though he has 4 companies and a lot of employees, he is making his own video content 2x per day. He takes his phone and just talks - no editing, just captions. People know that his videos give a lot of value and don't bother about the quality.
Rand Fishkin (founder of SparkToro) used his personal brand and created videos to explain what his tool is doing. First, he started that with Moz, SEO software. He was using whiteboard to draw strategies and explaining concepts. He did it for 7 years every Friday! Now building Sparktoro, his next SaaS company of marketing analysis, he invited an aspiring marketer Amanda Natividad to build the awareness of this company with her personal brand and video content. He wanted to double the success of using a personal brand 😊
If you feel you don't want to make videos, try to get a partner or co-founder who has the skill or willingness. That's what happened with an e-commerce platform Samcart. Brian Moran invited his brother Scott Moran to create videos about e-commerce in general.
The framework
1. Show your face;
It's the most important asset you have and AI cannot replace it, yet 😅
2. Be consistent
Do what's convenient for you - every Friday, every day, etc.
3. Give value
Don’t talk only about your offer. Teach people everything you know.
