😋 How to build a kick-ass free product?
Take the time to create a product that is just as good as your paid product, but offer one for free. For example, Kevon spent two months writing a 10,000-word Building in Public Definitive Guide.
I'm happy to welcome 40 new subscribers! 😍 Last week was full of events. My guest post was published in the AI Supremacy newsletter. Additionally, I hosted my first Notion meet-up in Riga and ran a workshop about marketing for social entrepreneurs.
I also had a great interview with Kevon Cheung, who teaches how to build in public and create genuine friends on Twitter. So far this has been the most popular Twitter Space I have ever hosted 🔥
Kevon is known as the "Build in Public" guy, but not everyone knows that he spent six months learning everything he could about the topic. He immersed himself in the Indie Hackers "Build in Public" community, taking notes and helping others as a peer rather than a superior.
After gaining an audience of 480 followers on Twitter, he created his first free product, the "Building in Public Definitive Guide". Its value has been continuously recognized by many people.
The framework
Find a topic that excites you
Instead of looking for passion, focus on taking action and gaining traction. Passion can develop as you engage in activities. As Kevon suggests, ask yourself: "Is this something I can talk about for 10 years?" You already know the answer 😉
Search for a community that discusses the topic
Kevon suggests finding niche communities (such as Reddit or Indie Hackers, instead of the broad community on Twitter) to learn about your topic. By observing what people talk about and their struggles, you can potentially find ways to solve their problems. It is not recommended to go there solely for self-promotion, but rather to learn and establish your expertise later on.
Work with the community and take your time to understand the topic
As Kevon said, "the key is not in the writing because everyone can write," but rather in building relationships with the community and delving deep into the topic.
"Build a kick-ass free product"
People love seeing the process of building something from beginning to end. Take the time to create a product that is just as good as your paid product, but offer one for free. For example, Kevon spent two months writing a 10,000-word Building in Public Definitive Guide.

✍🏻 Correcting my mistake
Last time, I shared a wrong link for my template “How to find what's special about you” - here is the right one 😊
Guess what I'm doing now? I'm working on my kick-ass free product. Hopefully, I'll be able to share it with you very soon 😊 What are you working on?
