💛 How to build a community?
Taylor wanted to build a creative studio that provides "something more than just a transaction.”
Hi everyone,
I received a good question: "How can I grow a community without spending too much time on social media?”
If you don't want to engage on social media, then you need to do it behind the scenes - in real life 🔥
And that's something my guest Taylor Peterson, co-founder of The Sauce, product designer and brand builder, is doing in her business - nurturing relationships with her clients even after the project ends.
💡Nurture relationships
Taylor wanted to build a creative studio that provides "something more than just a transaction.”
Alongside her main business, she built a community for creators and entrepreneurs where they could learn about content creation, news about social media, trends - The Sauce (newsletter, podcast, YouTube videos, and community). Building connections with different creators from various niches allowed her to create a community where everyone can share their ideas and support each other.
The framework
Find where your community hangs out
It can be Twitter, LinkedIn, Discord, real life, etc. Taylor started her personal brand on Twitter to build relationships with other creators.
Offer value
Keep relationships alive by adding value and helping people. Invest your time and show interest in what others are doing.
Become a part of a community
If you want to have your voice heard, be active and catch up with your peers without an agenda.

⚠️ Personal announcement
Conversation with Taylor had a big influence on me. She runs a successful business and a community.
I realized that I am relying more on the community aspect (I'm happy to have 300 of you here), but I am forgetting about the business aspect.
I took a short break from writing these newsletters as I wanted to figure out how I can be better at business but still keep my community ❤️
I'll have occasional newsletters, but I don't want to focus solely on personal marketing. Marketing will always remain my north star, though.
Business-wise, I'm focusing on helping startups use their social media as a sales channel. By talking with business owners, I realized that it's nice to have social media, but if you don't have a marketing funnel and a clear path on how to sell your products or services, there is no point in having them. I totally agree! So, I want to show you how you can integrate social media with sales 🔥
While I'm not here you can still find me on Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram 🤗
Happy to connect with you there!
Cheers,
Ilze
Love this so much Ilze!
Nurturing relationships is incredibly important in larger scheme of growth and community building. I can't wait to see how you continue building yours :)
